Moab, UT
Today we headed out mid-morning for a hike up Hunter Canyon. To get to the trailhead we took Kane Spring Road from Moab along the east side of the Colorado River. The road hugs the river for a few miles before turning east and heading up into the canyons.

While un-paved, the road is smooth and appears to have been treated by something to make it so firm.
We arrived at the trailhead and headed into the canyon along a nice stream.
Bright sunlight lit up the canyon walls, which were reflected in the stream below.
About a mile and a half into the canyon the Hunter Canyon Arch comes into view high above the trail.
Near the arch an offshoot of the trail goes under a huge boulder.
At times we stopped to just enjoy the views all around us with the sound of the stream adding to the “ambiance” of the canyon.
The trail goes on and on into the canyon. We hiked to a point almost three miles in before turning around and heading back to the Jeep, but not before finding yet another arch in the distance.
This is a great trail for any level hiker. You can make it a short one or hike all day if you like. Regardless, you’ll see some great scenery.

That sounds so appealing — hiking in the red rocks alongside a stream. Do you know if it’s a year-round stream, or just seasonal? Looks like a sweet hike.
Laurel, there was an article on the hike in the Moab Happenings and it says that the stream becomes more intermittent in the fall and winter. It was a very relaxing hike.

Zion is another beautiful park! Hope the crowds aren’t too bad.
Haven’t done that one in awhile…I love the reflection of the canyon wall in the stream. Nice way to spend a few hours!
It was the perfect day to be in the canyon with the sounds of water as you wander:)
Looks like a great hike with lots of interesting formations. There is nothing like hiking next to a stream with those colors reflecting off the water!
With no breeze in the canyon, there were lots of very nice reflections. We were never at a lose for something knew to view:)

Looks like a fantastic hike…and I like the looks of that dirt road too!
It was a nice relaxing hike listening to the water and enjoying all the colors. We left the sand trail a few time and climbed rocks instead. The road was a regular two lane road:)

We drove out Kane Creek Road. I was surprised at how nice the campground are out there. Charlie would have enjoyed this simple hike for a change:) Lots of water to play in and rocks to jump around on!
Sounds like a great day hiking in a red rock canyon with a stream to keep you company and beautiful arches to find. Wonderful pictures.Seems quiet and magical. Maybe Ruby could make it there.

Very nice. You will have to check out the trails in CA we just did with the big rocks I remember you like.
