Welcome to Geneseo, NY

Geneseo, NY

Bright and early Sunday morning we pulled out of the park in York and headed north on I-83.  Just north of Harrisburg we crossed the Susquehanna River and again turned north on US-15.  Route 15 meanders along the Susquehanna for many miles then, north of Williamsport, PA winds up through the mountains.  The trees are in full bloom providing some beautiful views of the nearby hills.

Soon after crossing into New York we took I-86 west a bit, then again turned north on I-390.  At Exit 4 we stopped and were greeted by Dave and Sue (Buluga’s Adventure) where Captain David’s pilot service boarded our motorhome to guide us to our RV site 10 miles to the north along beautiful Conesus Lake.

Dave and Sue live on a beautiful piece of land just outside Geneseo, NY complete with a house built in 1824, a horse barn, and a metal barn large enough to park their motorhome in with room for another vehicle next to it!  They also own a piece of property about two miles to the east on the western shore of Conesus Lake complete with room for an RV along a deck.  They are presently busy preparing their house for sale and securing a contractor to build a small house on the lake property beginning in a few weeks so they had no plans to use the RV space.  They graciously invited us to use the property for a visit as we make our way north to Pam’s mother in Clayton, NY.  We had planned to stay here for a few days before moving on, but once we got a look at the site, we decided to stay for a few years!  OK, maybe not that long (since a backhoe will be on site in the coming months to begin site preparation for the new house).

Once we arrived at the property, Dave guided John back into the driveway.  Since the drive has a small turn in it, Captain David’s Pilot Service provided a valet (Whose name also happens to be Dave) to move the motorhome into perfect position along the deck.

Not a bad site, right!  There is some good hiking and biking nearby and we plan to get out our inflatable kayak for some lake exploration soon.  Also, Dave and Sue have promised to play tour guide for us as we explore the Rochester area.  Wow, have we hit the jackpot or what ? ? ?

Looks like a busy visit to central NY!  More on that later . . .

Possession is 9/10th of the law…… I’d what for an eviction notice before moving LOL!

  3. Laurel says:

What a gorgeous place to spend a few days (or few years)!! I can’t believe how green and lush everything is! (We’re currently in the Southwest, so you understand.) You certainly know how to choose your friends. 🙂

I know we would opt to stay there for more than a week. You don’t have any place you have to be. Mom will wait for you to come any time.

The jackpot is too weak a word for what you two hit. I think you are in a little bit of heaven on earth. What a gorgeous view. You will be spoiled so badly by the time you leave there, you will never want to come park on our tiny little piece of land…with no water view or patio.

Enjoy your time with Sue and Dave.

  5. Sherry says:

WOW what a site! You definitely have the right friends. I for sure would want to stay and stay until I had kayaked the place to death. Can’t wait to see how you all enjoy it and each other.

  6. Is there room for Betsy? It does pay to know the right people especially when they have a ready site for you with a Lake view.
    Have a great time !

  7. Gay says:

My oh my…what a lovely spot you have there…it will be hard to move on! Hiking, kayaking, and your own tour guide…it just doesn’t get any better than that!

It has been said that “it is not what you know, but who you know” and in this case the quote definitely applies. You have chosen a gorgeous place to spend a few days. Hiking, biking and kayaking right outside your door sounds like perfection to us! Have a fabulous time! 🙂

  9. RJRVtravels says:

Wow – Have a great time and say hi to Dave and Sue for us.

  10. Janna says:

I could certainly take up residence in that spot–enjoy!!

  11. Amanda says:

What a perfect spot! You sure know how to pick your friends 🙂 Not sure I would ever want to leave. Enjoy 🙂

  12. Looks like you hit the jackpot there! Beautiful spot. Isn’t this lifestyle wonderful? Meeting such nice people and getting to stay on their property. We were not much into networking when we had jobs but have found it really pays off as RVers. Enjoy your time there!

  13. Hi guys, I have been reading your blog for about 6 months. I found it through RV Dreams and we are in the “Dreaming Stage of Life”. Currently living in CA I am originally from Lancaster, PA and knew sometime I would comment on your post. Well today is it. I know the exact spot where the picture was taken on Rt 15 north of Williamsport. This is a “new” section of the highway. My father had Christmas tree farm about 15 miles up the road above Trout Run on Rt4. Safe travels and I enjoy your blog. We will be on the road in one year.

Thanks for joining us! We were wondering if the road was finished. The last time we were that way, they were working on it. Sure was nice.

Hope your last year goes quickly. This is an awesome life.

  14. What an amazing site. Have a great time!

WOW! Sweet spot! We’ll be there! Maybe you shouldn’t have told us about it. Enjoy! How can you not?

  16. rommel says:

Taking advantage of blog networking! 😉 and it’s esp. awesome for RV bloggers, I see. Will be looking forward to more adventures… Weee!

Great place … and a deck overlooking a body of water is always a plus. I can see why you might have wanted to move in for a year 😉
