Now we are seriously headed to the north. It was a nice month along the Florida panhandle but the temperature is rising so it’s time to head for cooler climates. Monday we drove about 200 miles to the small town of Ashburn, Ga. The park is just a few miles off the interstate and has a nine hole golf course so we spent a couple of days enjoying the golf (and the heat and gnats!). We stayed there (Wanee Golf and RV Park) in December on our way south and wanted to return for a little more golf .
On Thursday we continued up I-75 to the north side of Atlanta to visit our son, Kevin. When we are in the Atlanta area, we stay at Jones RV just off I-85 near Norcross. It’s basically a gravel area with hook-ups but the location is only 15 miles from Kevin’s house.
Kevin recently had a large tree removed from his front yard and needed some help filling in the area with new plants. Since we always end up doing a great deal of work for Jessica during visits in York, it was nice to have a chance to help Kevin out a bit. Our car is a hatchback so we could carry many more supplies than in his Acura. So after a couple trips to Home Depot we “dug in”.
Today (Sunday) we drove 400 miles north on our way to York. We are parked in a Walmart in Salem, VA so someone can watch the Flyers game. Tomorrow we’ll continue the journey north for a month visiting friends, family (yes you, Jessica), and doctors before heading west toward the Rockies in June. Guess we better start planning a route for that trip!
