After a great two months in Cortez, FL near Bradenton, we left Saturday at noon and headed north toward the Florida panhandle. A rainstorm as we passed Tampa forced us into a rest area for a two hour stay. Since we’re retired and in no hurry, we don’t drive in the rain as it just gets our vehicles all dirty. So we just parked and watched some golf on tv and read until the rain subsided. We then drove about 175 miles to Gainesville and spent the night in a Walmart parking lot (across the street from a Starbucks) then continued our journey early the next morning. After a trip of 300 miles (including a stop for 55 gallons of diesel at $4.32.gal. ! ! !), we crossed a causeway over Choctawhatchee Bay onto a peninsula along the Gulf of Mexico to our destination in Miramar Beach, just east of Destin, FL.
We are now parked at Geronimo RV Park for the month of April enjoying some more warm weather and beach time (ok, we just spent two months near the beach but somebody has to do it).
At the end of the month we’ll continue our journey northward, but more on that later. Thanks for checking us out . . .
