The weather here in Murphy, NC has been just about perfect with cold nights and warm, clear days. We’ve been taking advantage of the weather to ride the motorcycle through the Smoky Mountains. One ride took us north to the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a National Scenic By-Way that runs over 400 miles from Virginia to North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Mountains.
In the above picture look at the spot on the mountain just above the road. Just what is that bare piece of land? A close look reveals that it is . . .
It’s an 18 hole private golf course designed by Arnold Palmer at Balsam Mountain Preserve. For pictures of this beautiful course click here. The site has a slide show of every hole.
What a beautiful ride on a beautiful day! As you can see, the leaves are just beginning to turn, so we plan to return to the parkway in about two weeks when they’re at their peak.
Thanks for the gorgeous scenery. We’ve been there before, but not for a long time. It was good to see it again.
I just had to laugh. We could take you two out of the picture and put Paul and I in and we wouldn’t know any difference. What a hoot! The pictures are great…kind of Déjà vu. Enjoy the ride.
